We’re showcasing our SoleSensor 2.0 at this year’s National Retail Federation (NRF) conference January 17-20 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. “Retail’s Big Show” brings together thousands of retail professionals from all corners and offers opportunities to learn from the best minds in the industry, multiple collegial networking events, and is complete with a giant expo hall filled with technologies and solutions for retailers to explore.
As a newcomer to Scanalytics Inc., the task of learning the ropes of the consumer behavior industry seemed daunting at first. However, as my first week came to a close, I found my groove surprisingly fast and am already in a much more knowledgeable position than I was a week ago. I am fascinated by all of the new information and impressed with the group of intelligent and talented people that help make it work. Just in my first week, the team has already broken new ground in development of retail analytics by increasing the viewable details in their client dashboard, allowing users to observe more in-depth information on their customers’ behavior. As I continue to expand my knowledge of this industry, I am excited to watch and participate as this unique technology takes flight.
As any brand will tell you, a marketing strategy is highly dependent upon the level of understanding they have on their customers. While many get by with limited intel, brands are increasingly pressured to amplify their research efforts to discover what will keep consumers interested in their products and services. Customers have access to goods far beyond their local neighborhood these days, making competition fiercer than ever, and big data a viable investment opportunity.
With the recent launch of our REFLEX platform, we thought we’d have a little fun this fall and throw the town a Hardware Hackathon to test out new “triggering” applications for the Internet of Things (IoT). As an advantageous startup, most of our team members have participated or contributed to a hackathon in the past, so we put our heads together and mapped out a solid weekend of hacking over September 12th-14th in Milwaukee, WI.
A little background on the host, Scanalytics provides consumer insights to businesses through proprietary floor sensors that analyze foot traffic to identify patterns and trends in behaviors. Our intelligent mat can understand how many people are coming in and out of a room, what their paths look like or how long it takes them to approach a product, among many other valuable insights. To keep the innovation moving forward, we opened up our API to allow integration with existing people-counting technologies to help complement and engage within the industry. After experiencing early success in this experiment, we started connecting anything and everything that collects information to the platform to enable “smart” interactivity.
Brands are dependent upon positive customer experiences to sustain the offering they provide. While it’s never been simple to manage these touchpoints, technology developments over the past 10 years has made it increasingly difficult to control. Imagine handling your online website, social media accounts, mobile app, tv and print advertisement along with any other interaction represented on behalf of your brand. And this isn’t even considering what’s happening in your store.
Admitting to yourself that a loved one can’t live on their own anymore is one of the most difficult realizations you can experience in life; deciding how to handle it is even harder. You never thought you would see the person you’ve looked up to throughout life become so vulnerable, and the responsibility of ensuring safety is suddenly passed on to you.
